In these systems, water circulates through buried pipe. The length of piping varies and depends on the ground temperature, soil moisture and system design.

3)Horizontal closed loop-These are the most cost effective and works quite well in new construction, where sufficient land area is available.

4)Vertical Closed Loop Systems-These systems are used when the soil is shallow for the trenching purpose and to reduce the disturbance in landscaping. In a well that is 199 to 400 feet deep, a U tube is installed.

5)Slinky Loops-These loops are used to increase heat exchange per foot of the trench. As the number of pipes increases, the trench length decreases.

6)Pond Closed Loop-It is a special system used in geothermal systems. Closed loop coils can be placed on the bottom of the pond where there is a pond and is deep and also has enough flow. The fluid is pumped in these systems in the same way as the traditional geothermal systems. The best part is that these systems dont harm the aquatic life of the ponds. This is because it is very attractive in terms of economics.
